2018 will be a great year and this is why!
With the start of the new year, many people come up with a resolution or goal that they want to attain. Whether it’s going to the gym, eating healthier, traveling, building stronger bonds etc., it is a goal and usually, it becomes really hard to follow through with for some. Here are some amazing tips to help you stick to your goals and to have a successful 2018!
Step 1: Pace Yourself
Do not overdo it with your goals. Set an attainable goal in a reasonable time because after the holiday season, it is hard to get back into our normal routine. So adding in another task throughout your day will throw you off and result in you forgetting that action in the first place. For example, if your resolution is to go to the gym more, try setting up a schedule so you know you have time for it instead of finding the time.
Step 2: Write It Down
Everywhere! Place it as your background on your phone and home computer. Try placing it on your work computer, if possible. If not, use post-it notes. Then strategically place those post-it notes around your house. Wherever your eyes normally look throughout your day, there such be a post-it note of your 2018 goals. Constantly looking at your goal list puts a reminder in your head to do it. It forces you to do it because if you look at your goal list and refuse to follow through on it then you know that you’re already failing and no one wants to fail. For example, if you want to read more, place a post-it note on your television, remote and computer. It’ll help you put down the remote and pick up a book. Choose a book that is parallel to another one of your goals.
Step 3: Document Your Progress
Go out and get yourself a journal. This will help you track your progress and regain motivation to stick to your goal. Every time you make a small step in the right direction, write it down! Keep it there to look back on in 2019 and to give you a pick me up when you are feeling tempted. For example, if you want to cut out a certain food or drink from your diet, every time you eat or drink something, mark it in the journal. This will be what you look back on when you are feeling tempted. You will have a book filled with things you can eat and enjoy eating to help suppress any temptations.
